The client's brief called for a swimming pool that related intimately with the living areas the residence. As the site fell substantially from the street, there was no alternative but to raise the pool to the main living level. By designing the residence around the pool it was possible to create both a casual entertainment area as well as a feature that reinforces the formal symmetry of the entry and main staircase, of the building.
